Amphiphilic behavior of an apparently non-polar calixarene.

چکیده
The self-assembly properties of a non-polar calixarene have been investigated at the air-water interface, in water and in the solid state showing that this molecule behaves as an amphiphilic molecule.

A polycation-induced secondary assembly of amphiphilic calixarene and its multi-stimuli responsive gelation behavior.
A calixarene-based supramolecular hydrogel with a porous network structure was successfully constructed via a hierarchical induced assembly strategy, showing reversible or irreversible gelation behaviors in response to several external stimuli including thermal, redox and ionic strength.
متن کاملSupramolecular stabilization of hydroxylamine TEMPOH by complexation with an amphiphilic calixarene.
In an ethanol/water mixture, the nitroxyl radical TEMPO abstracts a hydrogen atom from a phenolic OH group of the amphiphilic para-hexanoylcalix[4]arene, and the hydroxylamine TEMPOH formed yields a stable inclusion complex with another molecule of the calixarene.
متن کاملPolymorphism control of an active pharmaceutical ingredient beneath calixarene-based Langmuir monolayers.
This communication demonstrates the possibility to nucleate and grow different crystalline polymorphic forms of gabapentin (GBP) using, as nucleation templates, Langmuir monolayers of an amphiphilic calixarene at different packing densities.
متن کاملUse of an Amphiphilic Calix[4]arene with Sulfonate Functionality at the Lower Rim as a Buffer Additive in Capillary Electrophoresis
An amphiphilic calix[4]arene with sulfonate groups on the lower rim has been investigated as a buffer additive for separation of positional isomers by capillary electrophoresis. Addition of the compound to the running buffer led to successful separation of positional isomers of nitrophenols, dinitrobenzenes, and benzenediols. Association constants between the calixarene and the analytes indicat...
متن کاملSelf-assembly of amphiphilic anionic calix[4]arenes and encapsulation of poorly soluble naproxen and flurbiprofen.
Supramolecular aggregates formed through the association of an amphiphilic tetra-O-butylsulfonate calix[4]arene 1 were investigated in aqueous solution by a combination of different techniques (NMR, DLS and AFM). The ability of the micellar aggregates of calixarene 1 to increase the solubility of poorly water-soluble drugs was studied.
